Perhaps it's not cool to pick favorites. I fall in love with many images for different reasons. But if somebody insisted that I picked a favorite photo from this past year. I'd pick this one:
I'm completely partial to it since he is my baby. He's adorable and there's just no way around that. I was shooting at a private location that I may never be able to access again. Besides, Goose paid a huge price for me to have this photo. When he decided he was done sitting, he climbed off. Problem was that he didn't stick the landing and his head continued to the concrete. There were scuff marks, tears, and the hugest goose egg.
As soon as I took this shot, I loved it. I never had it printed and I didn't put it on my blog for weeks. I had just switched from Elements 3 to Photoshop CS4 and was struggling with the edit. All the credit for the beautiful edit above goes to Lyndsay Stradtner of Life in Motion Photography. She knew exactly what to do to make it my favorite of 2009. I was star struck and so grateful when she offered to edit the original. It's printed on a standout mount in my family room now where it should be.
If I could pick a photographer to come to California and photograph my family, it would be her. I love her images and I love her blog. She is listed in my favorite photographer section at the bottom of my blog. I only realized today that I had her name spelled wrong. Nice. My face is flushed with embarrassment.
